Natural and Man-made

Join us for an exploration of the perspectives of science and Judaism on the theme of Natural and Man-made, led by a task force of scientists and other professionals, including a rabbi. Events on 3 Sundays at 7 PM–April 2, April 23 and May 7.

Sunday, May 7, 7 to 9 PM

Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth, 4412 Washington Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802

THEME: Is natural “better”?–Perception and reality

Three presentations during the first hour —
— Properties of things are determined by their structure, not whether they are natural or man-made (Mark Wagman)
— Value of natural, value of man-made in Jewish tradition (Irene Plotzker)
— Psychology of preference for the natural (Harriet Ainbinder)

After breaking for refreshments, we will reconvene for an open discussion involving the audience, facilitated by David Brown. The discussion will explore the issues raised by the theme and the presentations, with the aim of integrating the scientific and Judaic approaches.
