Natural and Man-made
Join us for an exploration of the perspectives of science and Judaism on the theme of Natural and Man-made, led by a task force of scientists and other professionals, including a rabbi. Events on 3 Sundays at 7 PM–April 2, April 23 and May 7.
Sunday, April 2, 7 to 9 PM
Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth, 4412 Washington Blvd., Wilmington, DE 19802
THEME: Is man part of nature, or apart from nature? How are humans different from (the rest of) nature?
Three presentations during the first hour —
— The Divine and Human Relationship to Nature (Rabbi Steven Saks)
— Darwinian Man or in the Image of G-d (Manny Panar)
— The Concept of Wilderness (Mark Wagman)
After breaking for refreshments, we will reconvene for an open discussion involving the audience, facilitated by Alan Bleier. The discussion will explore the issues raised by the theme and the presentations, with the aim of integrating the scientific and Judaic approaches.
