Shalom AKSE Congregants and Friends of AKSE:
Like all of us, AKSE is in the process of adjusting to the current situation. Yesterday, Rabbi Saks led his Parsha and Pizza* class (*Rabbi provides the Parsha; you provide the Pizza) as an online meeting, with about 20 participating. He plans to continue with it every Wednesday at 6 p.m. See below for information on how to connect.
We now have a subscription to the Zoom online meeting service (thanks to Ron Makar). Besides Parsha and Pizza, we hope to utilize it for other activities and meetings.
The rabbi plans to send out regular messages. Following is his pre-Shabbat message for this week.
Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth has a group Facebook page. We expect to greatly expand usage of this page as a means of two-way communication with our congregants and friends. If you use Facebook, but have not joined our group page, please go to it here and click on the “Join” button.
Our current plan during this time is to publish the monthly Shofar only online. Also, we will not be preparing a weekly Shabbat newsletter. But we will continue at least weekly email blasts. These will include the Rabbi’s pre-Shabbat message, the Yahrzeit listing for the week, and other updates and useful information.
We want you to be able to contact us as well. As we reported earlier this week, the AKSE office is currently open only on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. But office staff will be monitoring their email also on other weekdays from home–their addresses are office@AKSE.org and bookkeeper@AKSE.org. Rabbi Saks wishes to maintain contact with all congregants. Feel free to reach him by phone or email (see his message below). And please feel free to contact either of us as well (contact info below). Let us know how we can help.
We are all in this together. By remaining a caring community, we will make the best of this difficult time and come out of it stronger than ever.
Shabbat Shalom!
