Rabbi

Rabbi Steven Saks is the full-time spiritual leader of Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth Congregation. Rabbi Saks received s’micha (rabbinic ordination) in August 2006 from Kollel Ayshel Avraham in Spring Valley , NY and is studying for an advanced rabbinical degree in a program affiliated with the Union of Traditional Judaism.  He holds a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Development from Towson University , a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Oswego , as well as a black belt in Jiu Jitsu.

Cantor

Cantor Redfern, born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, currently resides with his wife in Silver Spring, MD.  He is a graduate of the Belz School of Jewish Music, Yeshiva University, where he obtained a Cantor Certificate.    Cantor Redfern’s experience spans twenty-four years as a full time chazzan and Baal Koreh  in several traditional synagogues in North America.  Cantor Redfern studied voice and Chazzanut under Chazanim Macy Nulman, Noach Schall, and Daniel Gildar.  He was a soloist with the Bronze Ambassadors at the US Memorial Holocaust Museum Washington, DC in 2008, and a finalist in the 2005 “Cantors World” Cantorial Talent Search held in Brooklyn, NY.  Currently, Cantor Redfern is a soloist with Zemer Chai, the Washington, DC Jewish Community’s Premier Jewish choir.
